Generally speaking, for a smooth finish, the preferred method is to paint it on with a foam brush. For Dealers or Manufacturers, when spraying Clear-Coat, dilute it with acetone up to a 50/50 ratio. One gallon of Clear-Coat will cover about 800 - 1200 sq. ft. This means to put two coats on a 24-ft. pontoon boat will take about 1/2 gallon. Although not required, it is strongly recommended to apply at least two coats. Since Clear-Coat is a clear liquid, it's very easy to miss spots. By applying a second coat, you almost eliminate the chance of missing any spots. You can put the second coat on immediately, but it's better if you allow Clear-Coat to cure first.
